Sister Marie Lucey

For many years, Sister Marie has been a tireless advocate of human rights, social justice, and peace making. As an active member of the Franciscan Action Network, we honor her tonight for her participation in delegations to Syria and Lebanon, where she traveled to learn first-hand about the Iraqi refugee crisis and to promote awareness, advocacy, and assistance on their return. Closer to home, the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia have nourished a friendship for over five years with a Pennsylvania-based Muslim community organization, The Zubaida Foundation. Through this relationship, Sister Marie and the Franciscan Action Network were introduced to UPF and “The Sultan and the Saint” project.
